
Agi Pagkatipunan, often referred to as the “Wood Wizard,” is a Filipino sculptor and furniture maker celebrated for his exceptional craftsmanship in transforming salvaged Philippine hardwood into functional art pieces. Originally trained as an architect, he chose to pursue a career in furniture making, gaining recognition for creating finely crafted wooden art from reclaimed materials.
His notable works include a dining table used for the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, a wall mural at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and furniture for the Chapel of Bishop Camomot in Carcar, Cebu. Pagkatipunan’s creations are distinguished by their fluidity, as he follows the natural lines and forms of the wood, often incorporating playful and symbolic elements into his designs.
His dedication to his craft is evident in his extensive collection of reclaimed wood, sourced from various parts of the Philippines, which he uses to create durable and meaningful pieces that honor the history and spirit of the materials.
