Writeups
Interfusionism, according to Levi Yu, is the style of art where the idea is to combine all the techniques of several masters and put it together to create a new form, much like a “Mash-up” in musical terms. The idea is to explore combinations and techniques of the old and bring it to a new form in order to bring it into a new level of creativity. The Mountain series is a fusion of techniques and styles of several masters that he personally idolizes. The shape of the mountain comes from Manuel Baldemor, linear lines comes from Arturo Luz, the National Artist. The moon is inspired by Juvenal Sanso while the rocks comes from Noel Mahilum and of course Levi incorporates his own signature collage.
Life is a race and sometimes it throws us with unexpected circumstances that we feel helpless.
What matter is not how fast you finish the race but the experience and lessons we gained.
In doing so we begin to see our world in mang different perspectives.
Despite many fallen setbacks it will amaze you how everything just falls into place when you finish it.
Unraveling the layers in Yu’s art is like peeling back and history behind its making. A son of a contemporary artist and a student of many artistic persuasions, Yu is every bit the artist he is owing to his multifaceted influences.
“To arrive at who I really am as an artist, I want to empty my cup and start from there.”
In search of his definitive style, Yu looks at the world differently by removing his preconceived standards and biases of art.
