Rico Doronio was born in Borbon, Cebu to a family of 12 children, he is the youngest. His older sister, Lucia, happened to be the wife of the artist Antonio Mahilum. He laster became Mahilum’s apprentice but started to develop his own sense of style and uniqueness.
