Pelagene combines the idea of the open sea (pelagic) with the genetic code that carries life forward. In this sculpture, fish spiral around a fishing village in the shape of a DNA strand — a symbol of how knowledge, tradition, and survival are passed from one generation to the next. The village stands for community and memory; the fish, movement and continuity.
